STEPS A light reel step, with no battering, is danced throughout, with this one exception: Square: the step danced from one place into the next is - hop1 hop2 hop123, (2 bars) with the hop done on the ball, rather than the flat, of the foot. Accordingly, some prefer to think of the step as - skip1 skip2 skip123. However you think of it, it is a light and graceful step with plenty of lift to it. On reaching the next place, couples quarter turn clockwise in place (2 bars) ready to repeat the sequence. |
SOURCE Mick Mulkerrin at his Wexford workshop in November, 2000. Pat Murphy, in his book "The Flowing Tide", describes the set in almost identical manner, the only difference being that, in Pat's version, the hand hold in the Lead around changes in the fourth and subsequent figures from R in R to crossed hand - without any apparent purpose being served by such a change. |
